Unsurpassed Masters Vol. 7 & 8 - Today!

"Today!" deserved no less than two 4-CD boxsets containing outtakes and studio excerpts! The two boxsets are Vol. 7 and 8 of the Unsurpassed Masters series and, as usual, the quality of the tracks is really good.

Enjoy ;)

Vol. 7 - Disc 2: 1 / 2 / 3
Vol. 7 - Disc 3: 1 / 2 / 3
Vol. 7 - Disc 4: 1 / 2 / 3

Vol. 8 - Disc 1: 1 / 2 / 3
Vol. 8 - Disc 2: 1 / 2 / 3
Vol. 8 - Disc 3: 1 / 2 / 3
Vol. 8 - Disc 4: 1 / 2 / 3

Unbelievably good. Brian and the BB at their very best. Thanks. Cannot wait to hear the 2007 SOTs if you have these too.

I have them, I may post them when I'm through with the "old" SOTs!

Thanks very much for making this wonderful music available! Unfortunately, these files will not play using Windows Media. Can you post FLAC versions?

Linear Zap. I don't know who the hell you are, but you just changed my life. I've been looking for these BB UM discs forever, with little luck. Not only are you providing them for us free, but also the artwork. It is simply amazing and I want to personally thank you myself for your generosity in the true sense of the open spirit of the Internet.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Tom B.

Oh, and I really hope that your blog remains here for all to enjoy, and not removed by "the man". I'm just going to keep downloading this great, great music and hope the site remains. Maybe I should hurry up!
Thanks again.

Hey. Just letting you know. There's no artwork for the back of the Volume 8 Box. Would you mind checking into that? Besides that, totally complete.
Thanks.

Linear zap,

Gosh, I really hope you read this. Three important things:

1) THANK YOU for sharing all these cool, hard-to-find files with us.

2) You can get the full cover art for the Unsurpassed Masters Vol. 7 & 8 at this site: http://cover-paradies.to/?Module=Index
It's in German, but type in "beach boys unsurpassed" and click "Suchen!" That should give you the cover art.

3) Lastly, I just discovered that the last two tracks on Vol. 8, Disc 1 (tracks 15 & 16) are messed up. They start off fine, but about halfway through, this distortion noise starts coming in louder and louder. I've noticed this sound before whenever I've tried to rip from a CD-R that won't play correctly anymore. Do you by chance have those tracks on another disc without the distortion? Everything has sounded fine up to this point. (Granted, I haven't had the chance to hear the rest of Vol. 8 yet.)

Thanks!
Mickey

To Tom_Horseplay: I didn't change your life. Brian Wilson did! (like he changed mine) ;) Glad you like the UM sets though, stay tuned for the rest of 'em!

To Mickey: I've heard a few different copies of this particular UM set and the distortion you're referring to was present on all of them... But maybe all the copies had been ripped from CD-Rs. Honestly, I don't know if they were and I hadn't asked then... And as for Tom, glad you enjoy the posts, and stay tuned! I'll be back after the RFH shows :D

To Mickey:
I don't know how you found that German site with all the UM covers, but that was impressive. Only thing is, I'm looking for the back cover of the actual BOX the discs came in, not the disc covers. The box artwork is there for Front and Back Vol 7, and the Front of 8, but not the back of Box 8. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Linear zap: Thanks for your response. Wonder if there are any versions floating around out there without the distortion? Oh well, at least everything else I've heard (so far) sounds good. Thanks again! :-)

Tom_horseplay: Awesome site, isn't it? :-) I was directed there by someone from a Yahoo group. Sorry, but I missed the word "box" in your original post, so I thought you were referring to the back covers for the CD's themselves. I'm afraid I can't be of any help. Good luck!

This is one awesome site! I've dreamed of finding just the Pet Sounds & GV U.M. sets and now I'm spoilt for choice so thank you so much for all of them. To the guy who said they won't play in Windows Media, they all burn fine to cd so if you rip them to your own hard-drive after you've burnt them, you can then play them on the p.c.

Just working through discs 2 & 3 of Vol 7 & there appears to be a few tracks missing. Track 12 from disc 2 & 18, 19 from disc 3. If you could link to these tracks in here, it would be much appreciated. No worries if not though as there's already way more to download than I've ever dreamed of finding.

P.S. I'm the guy who recorded the TLOS shows, good to see them getting spread about & heard by all the Brian Wilson fans out there. I've also got the Friday 14th show as well which I still need to get up on the hard-drive. I should post this msg under the TLOS links I guess.

Anyway thanks for this blog, you are making a lot of music fans very happy indeed!

Davey.
