Brian Wilson - Midnight's Another Day

Here's a preview of Brian's forthcoming work, "That Lucky Old Sun (A Narrative)" (that I'm going to see at the London RFH in September! Yay!).

This song is called "Midnight's Another Day" - music by Brian, words by Scott Bennett. I like this song a lot... At first listen I didn't "get" it, but after listening to it three or four times "I saw the light"! Definitely one of Brian's best post-1988 songs (not counting BWPS, obviously). Brian said this version was just a demo... Can't wait for the definitive studio version if that's the case!

To "anonymous": what I wanted to say is that, since some BB blogs suddenly disappear because of the "authorities", it could happen to THIS blog some day.

The point of it was that, if it was to be closed some day, it wouldn't be MY decision. That's all! For now the blog is alive and well, and new SOT uploads will come this week!

Thanks so much for this, its on my must play list at the moment. In fact, I went all Be My Baby over it for a couple a' days (if ya know what I mean), and it truly rates up there with some of his finest solo works, which is truly remarkable at this late stage.

Any idea where to mysteriously find Live Let Live, or those two tracks Brother Bri did for that Target compilation quite recently?

Don't fall asleep nude sunbaking.

Er... I have them but I feel a little bit uncomfortable with posting stuff that was commercially released very recently. "Midnight's Another Day" didn't fall into this category as it is supposed to be a demo...

But if you really, really want them I'll try to do something (not before the 26th though).

After download, the mp3 files won't open using Windows Media, I get an error message that reads "the input media format is invalid." Is there a file conversion routine I need to run on the files to allow them to play using Windows Media? Any suggestions?

For some reason, the files will play with Quicktime.

Thanks for your help AND the music, linear-zap!

The mp3s are encoded with "Lame", a very common encoding format. They play nicely on my version of Windows Media Player, so my guess is that you lack the "codec" for Lame-encoded mp3. You can find it on the internet (I can't give you a link right now as I'm in a hurry, but there are a lot of websites dedicated to codecs)

Hope that helps!

this song is a ripoff of The Fool On The Hill.. being not only in the same key, having the same feel, but has a common beatles maj7-majmin7 ("make me feel so alone") idiom.
